SupplierScan.com launched an online database service for Utilities

SupplierScan.com, managed by Allan Skyner, has yesterday launched an online database service giving buyers within the European Utility industry direct access to ~5000 suppliers for their specific products or services. The launch of this database empowers the core online-service (called SupplierScan and which is about searching, finding and pre-evaluating new suppliers), making it quicker and broader than ever… in one or two years from now, SupplierScan database, if quality of data follows, might even shadow the feet of Achilles… what do you think Dr. Skyner?
Be aware Allan can serve other industries than Utilities: His methodology and his ability to understand complex specification requirements (sometimes for Nuclear purposes…) makes his service compelling whatever the product/service sector to be ‘SupplierScanned’ is and as long as real competition is there. I heard some users saying that SupplierScan doubled the saving potential of a self-made Strategic Sourcing approach.

So if you need help sourcing new suppliers for a contract you have available, or if you already know the suppliers in the market but need extra information? Have a try.

By the way, here is the press release that Allan Skyner issued yesterday:

Supplier Scan is pleased to announce the launch of its new online database service giving buyers from all sectors of the Utility industry direct access to details of quality suppliers of products and services specific to their requirements. The database uses the EU’s preferred system of classification for public procurement, the Common Procurement Vocabulary (CPV), allowing buyers to search the database using a specific CPV Code or name, a product name (e.g. cables) or search for specific supplier’s using the company name.

This service will compliment the established online pro-active sourcing and evaluation service regularly requested and successfully supplied to numerous clients and aims to be the primary source of suppliers for buyers and vice-versa. Supplier Scan projects are used not only to locate and increase the client’s number of known quality suppliers for this specific service but also provided valuable market knowledge. The results are used to refine procurement strategies, further establish specific capabilities of suppliers and leverage competition for future contracts.

Allan Skyner, Managing Director, says “As a former buyer from the Utility industry I fully appreciate the need to locate quality suppliers to add competition with the aim of reducing costs, our online database and pro-active sourcing services address those needs.”
